Eduardo Varela is a trademark and entertainment law attorney and partner at Cavelier Abogados. Eduardo is one of the heads of the trademark and copyright practice of the firm.
With over a decade of experience, Eduardo focuses on strategic counseling, structuring, drawing and negotiating complex IP licensing and distribution agreements, trademark clearance and prosecution, copyright litigation, and large-scale consumer disputes. Eduardo has also handled hundreds of trademark opppositions, provisional refusals and appeals before the Superintendency of Industry & Commerce in Colombia, while also being appointed as a panelist at the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center in Hong Kong.
In addition to his client work, Eduardo acts as counsel in Colombia for the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in pursuing copyright enforcement activities and assisting in the development of an anti-piracy campaign within Colombia.
Eduardo currently teaches Intellectual Property Law at Universidad del Rosario, and has published extensively on copyright and trademark law trending topics.
